It’s one week before school starts and we needed a quick getaway to commemorate the coming of a new school year.  This is a strange year for so many reasons, and anticipating another experience with a mixture of virtual and live classes for my kids has me feeling a little anxious.  Any little opportunity to block out reality and do something easy and fun with these boys is a welcome distraction.  We snuck away to the Tipis on the Guadalupe for just one night…and it was exactly what we needed!  The boys were able to run around on the property and play the outdoor games like pingpong, corn hole and even volleyball.  They played tag with glow sticks and I cooked them hot dogs on the charcoal grill.  We even broke out the dominoes for a few games at the picnic table in front of our Tipi.

The burn ban was on but we improvised!  I cooked s’mores in the large toaster oven and my little guy said they were the best he’d ever tasted!  As we wound down for the night, we snuggled in to the 3 queen beds provided and told scary stories in the dark and just laughed and forgot all the stress we were experiencing anticipating school beginning in just a matter of days.

Early in the morning, I loaded up the 5 year old and let the older two stay behind at the Tipis to watch TV and relax.  We drove just a couple miles down the road to Sweeties Bakery, where we got a feast for breakfast – kolaches and delicious donuts!  It was simply the perfect getaway – affordable, practical and fun.  I know you will enjoy your stay when you come to the Tipis!
